That adds up to real predation pressure, and it happens for free when the habitat supports it.

What the evidence does not support is the idea that wrens provide predictable or measurable aphid control. Aphid populations are primarily regulated by natural enemies such as parasitic wasps, lady beetles, and lacewing larvae, not by birds.
